Broadcast Funding Application

The Media Development and Diversity Agency’s (MDDA) 2025/26 Call for Grant Applications for community media is opening for 4 weeks, from 03 July – 31 July 2026. Community media projects with valid Class Broadcast Service Licence, including radio, TV, and community print publications, as well as small commercial print publications are encouraged and invited to apply for grant funding.

Organisations intending to apply must submit their applications via email to applications@mdda.org.za. Applications will be accepted from the following organisations:

  • Community Broadcast (TV and Radio),
  • Community Print publications
  • Small Commercial Print publications

  • REQUIREMENTS FOR BROADCAST APPLICATION
    Sub-heading: Strictly via the application's email portal – applications@mdda.org.za (No courier and no walk-ins)
    1.   MDDA Application Form (downloadable from the MDDA website)
    2.   Certified Copy of your organisational registration documents (deregistered organisations will not be considered).
    3.   Valid Tax Clearance Certificate/Tax Pin
    4.   Audited or reviewed financial statements for the previous financial year, certified by an accountant or auditor who is independent of the project, if you are an existing organisation. For reviewed financial statements, provide full details of the reviewing accountant.
    5.   Affidavit that you are not connected to or owned/ controlled by : Any commercial media entity or individuals (Caxton, Kagiso Media, Multichoice, SABC, ETV, Primedia, M-Net, Media 24, Arena Holdings Independent Newspapers, etc.) Any political party or Government.
    6.   Business Plan including 3-year financial projections/plan (Please follow the business plan template downloadable from the MDDA website)
    7.   Budget (your funding request using the Excel template downloadable from the MDDA website)
    8.   A copy of your class community broadcast licence
    9.   A copy of your programming schedule
    10.   Copies of key personnel CV’s (max 4)
