CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: COMMUNITY PRINT FUNDING 2026

The Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) is pleased to announce that the 2026 Community Print and Digital Media Applications Call is now officially open from 3 - 31 July 2026.

As part of its commitment to transforming South Africa's media landscape, the MDDA invites eligible community print and digital media organisations to apply for grant funding.

As part of the MDDA mandate, priority will be given to publications in indigenous languages that serve rural and historically marginalised communities, further promoting equitable access to information and media diversity.

Important information for applicants:

  • Budget and Business Plan templates are available on the MDDA website to assist applicants in preparing their submissions.
  • Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the application guidelines and ensure that all required supporting documents are submitted before the closing date.

  • The MDDA encourages all eligible community media organisations to apply and be part of strengthening a diverse, inclusive, and sustainable community media sector in South Africa.

    THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THE APPLICATION:
    1.   Certified Copy of your companies registration documents (deregistered organisations will not be considered).
    2.   Valid Tax Clearance Certificate / Tax pin
    3.   Audited or reviewed financial statements for the previous financial year, certified by an accountant or auditor who is independent of the project, if you are an existing organisation. For reviewed financial statements, provide full registration details of the reviewing accountant.
    4.   Affidavit that you are not connected to or owned/ controlled by : Any commercial media entity or individuals (Caxton, Kagiso Media, Multichoice, SABC, ETV, Primedia, M-Net, Media 24, Arena Holdings Independent Newspapers, etc.) Any political party or Government.
    5.   Budget – The budget template is available on the MDDA Website
    6.   Business Plan including 3-year financial projections/plan (Please follow business plan template downloadable from the MDDA Website).
    7.   A sample of your media product or provide a URL if your publication is digital.
    8.   A Google Analytics report or any other web analytics data covering a period of 6 months to 1 year, demonstrating your platform’s performance.
    9.   Copies of key personnel CV’s (maximum 4).
    10.   BEE Certificate
